This one may be one of my signature songs. This is a perfect model for Nocturnal Pagan Metal. It features classic power metal style guitar riffs. The occational guitar solo. A hauntingly beautiful symphonic underscore. The lyrics are of a dark, poetic, occult nature. The story here is of a young man who meets the women of his dreams in his dreams. He wakes up after having a deeply passionate midnight experience and wonders if it was real or a dream. He starts to fall into a deep depression wondering who she was, if she was real, and if he will see her again. One night he lights a candle and scry's into the flame and learns that he was astral projecting and she was an astral being. In the end, he is able to have a romance with her through astral projection. In case your wondering, this is not based on any personal experience. It is pure fiction. |
Long Winters Curse Download MP3 (12.68MB) This is a slightly more aggressive piece. It is a little more experimental. You can definately hear a wide variety of influences. You can hear traces of, thrash, death metal, black metal, power metal, goth and classical music. It may be the only song to have power metal vocals over black metal riffs and blast beats. It also has a little more sophisticated and complex orchestra compositions backing the song. The lyrics are based on the classical myth of Presephones decent into the underworld. She is abducted by her mother Demeter (goddess of spring) by god of the underworld Hates. Demeter becomes anguished and neglects her responsiblities as goddess. The earth becomes covered with snow and falls into a winter that lasts for years. Meanwhile, Presephone falls in love with her capture Hates and eventually get married. Zues, King of the Gods, gets fed up with the long lasting winter and demands that Presephone be returned to her mother. The problem is she is married to Hates. The end result is a compromise. She spends part of the year with her mother and spring returns. However, the other part of the year is spent with her husband and Demeter misses her daughter and winter returns. Hense, you have the creation of the seasons. |

This is an instruement I did a while ago. The recording on this one is a little bit poorer quality as I was still inexperienced with the equipment. Hell, I'm still learning everytime I record a song. Also the drums are a bit off at places because this was before I started using Leaf Drums which is a programable drum software program. I had to literally hammer out the drums on the keyboard. They do sound a little more authentic that way. Most people who have heard it where not able to tell off hand that it wasn't a real drum set. It was also the first song I recorded with a keyboard. Dispite the quality of the recording and the equipment used in this one, I still decided to post this because I am proud of a lot of the riffs in this one. It is nica quality techniqual piece. Even the lack of quality kind of adds a certain aura to it. The same kind of aura when listening to old black metal recordings. Only this is more techniqual. |
